I vividly remember, in my college, it was Sports day and I wanted to participate in it to prove myself and win . I went to our Head of Sports and he said you are late. The only space left is 1500 metre race. At that time, I used to go for morning walks. I thought it’s going to be very easy, I can do it. He looked at me and said are you sure? I looked at myself and felt embarrased because I am a fat chubby girl but I still said yes! So, the day comes and I was totally ready but when I saw all the athletes and the crowd I thought I made a big mistake. I thought everyone is going to laugh at me. Then my friend motivated me and about time they announced my name,”Manpreet Kaur in 1500 metre race.”
I went over there, my heart went out of control, I was nervous and then it started just like that. I continued running but everyone was crossing me like I was very slow, but I was telling myself that I can do it. My botany teacher was running along with me and said I can win. I kept running. People started giving up and slowing down. I kept going and actually won. I was not first but I secured second. Slow and steady wins the race. Never underestimate yourself. Thanks for reading. Hopefully, you get the point 🙂
